Speed dating is a matchmaking process whose purpose is to make people meet a large number of new people. Single men and women are rotated to meet each other over a series of dates of around seven minutes. At the end of each date, the organizer signals the participants to move on to the next 7-minute date. Participants are not allowed to trade contact information during the dates. At the end of the event participants receive an e-mail including a link to an online evaluation. Participants may check the boxes of the participants they found attractive. If there is a match, contact information is forwarded to both parties.
Speed dating events require advance online registration and prepayment. If there are no more places available, the provider offers waitlists. The provider strives for exactly the same number of men and women. Speed dating providers specify an age range for ladies and gentlemen.
